The Professional Fighters League (PFL), which rose from the ashes of the defunct World Series of Fighting, launches it’s inaugural season on June 7 at The Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden. Ahead of this debut, the rebranded promotion has revealed the pertinent details.

It’s official: Donald Cerrone and Leon Edwards are set to headline the UFC’s return to Asia. MMAjunkie passed along news of Cerrone (33-10 MMA, 20-7 UFC) vs. Edwards (15-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) earlier this week, and UFC officials today made a formal announcement of the five-round welterweight fight. UFC Fight Night 132 takes place June 23, likely in Singapore at a venue to be determined. It’s expected to stream on UFC Fight Pass, though the full fight card and bout order haven’t been finalized.

Rick Story is back. Just not in the UFC.

The welterweight veteran has signed a deal with the Professional Fighters League and will enter the revamped promotion’s $1 million tournament-like system, he announced to Ariel Helwani on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour.

The PFL “season” is scheduled to begin in June and will be a true-sport format with a regular season, playoffs and championship fights in different weight divisions that are slated to culminate at the end of the year. PFL was formerly known as World Series of Fighting.
