Stephen Thompson hopes to cash in on Dana White’s word with a main-event opportunity in his home state. Following Thompson’s loss to Darren Till at UFC Fight Night 130 in May, the UFC president said the company would “do everything we can to give (Thompson) what he wants” going forward after he accepted the bout against a significantly overweight Till.

Michael Page returned to the boxing ring Friday night in London, and added another quick knockout finish to his record.

“MVP”, who won his boxing debut last October, took on Michal Clach (1-6) in a light heavyweight contest at the York Hall. Page knocked Clach down once in the opening round, and used his “crazy style” to land a right hand and stop his opponent only seconds into the second round.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen a host of established veterans come up short against rising stars — particularly in the welterweight division. Former UFC welterweight and middleweight title challenger Demian Maia lost to Kamaru Usman. Two-time welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson lost to Darren Till. Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos gave up a decision to Colby Covington just last weekend.

There will be no farewell fight for “The Count.”

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping officially announced his retirement from mixed martial arts Monday on his Believe You Me Podcast, bringing an end to a 14-year career that saw Bisping establish himself as one of the most successful and longest tenured fighters in UFC history while also becoming a pioneer for MMA in the United Kingdom.
